The Hawks entertained visiting Orange Coast College on Tuesday afternoon and ended-up comfortable victors in a 4-0 win.
The platform for the success was built on the dominant duo of center-backs Shelby Kain and Kylee Medlin who won the aerial contest against a direct and physical Pirates team.
SCC dominated possession from the kick-off, but the visitors were the first to come close to scoring, hitting the cross bar from inside the penalty box around the fifteen minute-mark. Cassie Lewis went close for the Hawks, but it was a deflected Nikki Marino shot that opened the scoring on the half-hour. Then, on the stroke of half-time, Gigi Davila set Marino to rifle home an unstoppable left-footed drive to put the Hawks two goals up at the break.
In the second period, the hosts absorbed the early energy of the Pirates and mid-way through the half, Jasmine Ferman swiveled and shot to tally her first goal of the season. As the clock wound down, Aubrey Bryant served for Kain to close-out the scoring with a powerful downward header.
Savanna Prado again collected the shut-out in goal.
Up next for the Hawks is a visit to Irvine Valley College for a 3pm kick-off on Friday, October 7th.
Thanks go out to all those in attendance today.
