Men’s Basketball Snags Third Straight in Commanding Fashion
The Santiago Canyon College men's basketball team saw all five starters score in double figures on Friday night as they hosted Chaffey College in non-conference play. A pair of double-doubles from sophomores Salim Semaan and Ryan Webber sealed a decisive 95–72 victory over the Panthers.
The Hawks dominated on both ends of the floor, shooting 55.6% from the field and an impressive 43.3% from beyond the arc. They outrebounded the Panthers 46–41 and held their largest lead of the night at 23 points.
It was tough to single out a standout performer, as six Hawks reached double digits in scoring. Semaan notched his first career double-double, tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds, along with a steal and an assist.
Webber controlled the paint, going 6-for-12 from the field for 15 points while grabbing 10 rebounds to complete his own double-double.
Freshman point guard Jacob De Armas led the team with 19 points, narrowly missing a triple-double after adding seven assists and seven rebounds.
Freshman guard Jayden Oei caught fire from deep, knocking down five three-pointers for 15 points, while fellow freshman Dominic Bolton added 12 points, including two threes and a perfect 4-for-4 performance from the free-throw line.
Freshman Paris Lassiter made the most of his first action of the season, contributing eight points off the bench, and sophomore Chico Lopez chipped in 10 points and three rebounds to round out the Hawks' balanced attack.
