Hawks Softball Returns with a Vengeance
After a hollow year on the diamond in 2024, when softball was nonexistent at Santiago Canyon College, the Hawks are ready to return to action in 2026. The long-awaited season kicks off this Friday, January 23, with renewed energy and the goal of restoring pride between the white lines.
A program that captured the 2016 3C2A State Championship and multiple conference titles under former head coach Lisa Camraco now enters a new era. With fresh leadership and a revamped roster of student-athletes from across Southern California and beyond, Hawks Softball is set for its next chapter.
First-year Head Coach Lou Simon will guide the Hawks into the 2026 season, beginning with back-to-back doubleheaders in Oxnard, California.
"I am proud to be welcomed to the Santiago Canyon College Hawks family as their Head Softball Coach," said Simon after being named the program's third head coach in it's history. "The program has a rich tradition of success on and off the field and my goal is maintain that tradition and provide our student-athletes with all of the tools to succeed on the field, in the classroom, and in life, so that they can utilize those tools in their daily, weekly, and lifelong pursuits."
The Hawks will open the season against Compton before facing Oxnard in a pair of games. The five-game road stretch continues with matchups against LA Valley and El Camino, culminating in the team's first home game since 2024 against Rio Hondo on Tuesday, February 3.
Santiago Canyon will then return to the road for a four-game trip, competing in doubleheaders against San Diego Mesa and College of the Canyons. The Hawks will host San Bernardino for a doubleheader on Wednesday, February 11, before closing non-conference play against Southwestern, Grossmont, San Diego City, Glendale, and LA Harbor. Conference play follows with the always formidable Orange Empire Conference (OEC) slate.
The 2026 roster features 16 student-athletes donning the Blue and Gold for the first time, with more than half making their collegiate debuts setting the stage for an exciting and fresh season of Hawks Softball.
